Well I’m glad to say that one more prac is completed (only three more to go) and I can’t wait to have a sleep in! Even though it was exhausting and offered many challenges, it was filled with many learning opportunities. Over the past three weeks, I have learnt three main things that I believe will be vital for when I am a qualified teacher and have my own classroom:
- How to plan and teach engaging lessons while effectively incorporating ICTs
- To be patient and calm,
- And to go with the flow when interruptions occur.
This professional experience has been the busiest and craziest one so far, filled with a range of activities/interruptions from Sorry Day to Leadership day to writing report cards. The class I have had for the past three weeks, was filled with a variety of students, some with serious behaviour issues and some that were talented and gifted. For my last day today, the students threw me a class party – a good excuse to eat junk food. The students even made me a present to remember them by. Overall, I am so thankful for this learning experience with such a great mentor and such great students, and I cannot wait until my next prac – well at least after a few weeks off!
